A car in which Bharat Gogawale, a rebel Shiv Sena MLA was travelling, met with an accident on Monday afternoon at Eastern Freeway in Mumbai.
As per Sewree Police officials, who reached the spot at the moment, a car with a lady driver halted her vehicle unexpectedly causing this chaos.
"She probably must be a newbie driver who applied the brake suddenly, without any indication, and the vehicles behind did the same in order to not crash her car," said an official.
As a chain reaction, the five vehicles in the queue kept bumping into each other. "By the time we reached, the car that caused the crash had already fled," said the official. There were no injuries reported but some four vehicles were badly damaged.
A traffic collision that occurred at the Orange Gate end near Mazgaon got worse for around 15 minutes as the crashed vehicles piled up. "Gogawale used his escort vehicle to continue his journey from the scene. None from the group approached us so no case has been registered," he added.
