GURUGRAM: Five persons were booked for allegedly barging into the residence of Kuldeep Vats, the Congress MLA from Badli, and beating up his cook.
Police said that around 2pm on Friday, the five armed men barged into the MLA’s house in Pataudi when Rajeev, the cook, opened the door.
“They entered the house forcibly, twisted my arm and asked me where the MLA was,” the cook told the police.
Told that Vats was not at home, the five men allegedly beat up Rajeev. “Before leaving, they asked me to tell my employer ‘when we didn’t spare Moose Wala, who is Vats?’,” he said, referring to the Punjabi singer who was shot dead recently.
An FIR has been registered against the five identified men under sections 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) of the IPC.
“The case has been transferred to the crime branch, which has initiated an investigation. None of the accused has been arrested yet,” said Harinder Kumar, the ACP (Pataudi).
Contacted, Vatsa told TOI, “Gunda culture has been revived here. Not just me, 708 Congress politicians have been issued threats. They don’t want us to speak about the gunda culture or the drug menace. They want us to stay quiet,” the MLA said.
