I-T dept conducts raid at AIADMK worker’s house

Coimbatore: Income Tax (I-T) Department officials conducted a search at the residence of Vasanthakumar, who works with the AIADMK mouthpiece ‘Namathu Amma’ office at Mayilkal near Sugunapuram, here on Saturday night. Vasanthakumar’s brother Santhosh is a personal assistant to the former minister S P Velumani.
When the news of the search spread, AIADMK cadres gathered in front of Vasanthakumar’s house. Officials questioned Vasanthakumar about a pen drive. The search concluded at the night itself.
Meanwhile, the searches at the office of KCP Engineers Private Limited at Peelamedu continued for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday.
On July 6, I-T officials had conducted a search at the residence of R Chandrasekar, the rural district MGR youth wing secretary and the publisher of ‘Namathu Amma’, on the Vadavalli-Thondamuthur road. He is a close aide of Velumani. His wife Sharmila is the councillor from ward 38. I-T officials had also conducted searches at the office of Alayam welfare trust at Periyar Nagar for three days. tnn
