Rape case: LIP chief Simarjit Bains, four others surrender in Ludhiana court

LUDHIANA: Lok Insaf Party (LIP) chief and former MLA Simarjit Bains along with four other accused in a "rape" case surrendered before a Ludhiana Court on Monday morning. His brother Karamjit Singh Bains and his friend Sukhchain Singh have already been arrested by Ludhiana police in the case.
The 44-year-old woman had alleged that she was raped by Bains several times between April 2020 and October 2020 on the pretext of her helping her in a property dispute. On July 10 last year, division Number six Police had registered a FIR sections 376 (rape), 354 (sexual harassment), 354-B (sexual assault), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian penal code (IPC) against Bains, his brothers Karamjit Singh, Paramjit Singh Pamma, workers Baljinder Kaur, Jasbir Kaur Bhabhi, Sukhchain Singh and PA Gopi Sharma.
Harish Rai Dhanda, Counsel for complainant, said that the five accused including Simarjit Bains surrendered before the court at around 9.30 am on Monday. He added that Court gave police their three days remand.
