The BMC is yet to repair the footpath a week after a landslide caused by heavy rainfall near an under-construction building in the vicinity of Cadbury House at Pedder Road was reported.

No casualties were reported as the incident occurred at midnight on July 1. A crack on the footpath near the building was noticed, and the BMC officials immediately took action and visited the site. Also, the IIT-VJTI panel appointed by the BMC examined the site of the landslide and gave recommendations to the civic body. Accordingly, the excavation work of the under-construction building was urgently filled up to stabilise the slope immediately.

Since the deep cracks on the footpath were visible, vehicle parking was on hold until backfilling was completed. Prashant Gaikwad, Assistant Municipal Commissioner of D ward, said, ''According to the measures recommended by IIT, the excavation work was backfilled. We are waiting for the detailed report from IIT-VJTI that will suggest further measures. The report is expected to come in the next two days, post which we can start the work.”
