Meghnagar (Madhya Pradesh): The Nal Jal Yojana has been implemented here with the promise of putting an end to the water woes of residents of Meghnagar town of Jhabua district. A huge sum of money was spent to provide safe drinking water to rural people under the scheme but potable water remains a distant dream for residents.
In 2017, state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved the “Nal-Jal scheme” worth Rs 30.32 crore with financial aid from the Asian Development Bank. But even after the passage of 5 years since the issuance of a work order no work has been done for its implementation.
As per details, the administration entrusted the responsibility of completing the project work to MP PIU, Indore. PIU issued a work order to PC Lubrication Company in the same year, with a deadline of 850 days i.e. 28 months. This project was to be completed on January 13, 2020, but got stuck and remains incomplete till July 09, 2022.
Amid tall claims of local authorities of project completion, a dam was constructed near Anas river in village Jhayda of Meghnagar town. The dam was connected to a newly constructed filter plant and water tank with a capacity of 2 lakh litres of water to ensure the supply of tap water at every doorstep in villages.
Junior Engineer Lakshmi Mandloi from PIU Indore has been appointed here to monitor the work, in addition to that employees of Tata Consulting Company are also deployed to keep track of the quality of work, despite this the work is running at an estimated delay of two years.
