AHMEDABAD: Airport police registered a case on Saturday against a 34-year-old woman, Priti Singh, for allegedly drinking alcohol. She had engaged a taxi to go to the Ahmedabad airport from a resort in Rajkot.
A complaint was registered by the driver of the taxi, Haidar Manek, 29, a resident of Rajkot, at Airport police station late on Friday night. The complainant said he was engaged to take passengers from Rajkot to Ahmedabad and picked them up from Rajkot on Friday afternoon and headed for Ahmedabad city. He said at Limbdi, the two women passengers stopped at a restaurant and when the two returned they had cold drink bottles in their hands.
The complainant stated that they reached the domestic terminal of Ahmedabad airport at about 7.30pm and dropped off one woman. The other was in the car and was to be dropped off at Narol, according to their booking on a taxi-hailing app.
The driver said that as they reached Airport circle, the woman began to misbehave with him and began babbling. He said he immediately stopped the car told her to get out, but she refused. He suspected Singh had drunk alcohol, which she probably mixed with the cold drink.
He stated that he then called the police control room. Singh later told police that she is a resident of Dilshan Garden in Delhi. As she did not have a permit, a case was registered against her under prohibition laws.
