MADHEPURA: A sub-inspector (SI) was shot at by criminals at Nemuan-Barahi village under the Uda-Kishunganj police station in Madhepura district on Saturday.
According to police, SI Pappu Kumar, who received serious bullet injury in the incident, was admitted to JNKT Medical College and Hospital at Madhepura. "A bullet was removed from one of his arms by doctors. His condition is out of danger now," Uda-Kishunganj SDPO Shatish Kumar said.
"The incident took place when three policemen deputed at Uda-kishunganj police station went on a raid at Barahi village to nab the miscreants. Seeing the police, the criminals opened fire, injuring the SI, and fled," the SDPO said, adding the accused have been identified and they would be arrested soon.
Kosi range DIG Shivdeep Lande visited the hospital along with SP Rajesh Kumar and enquired about the condition of the SI. "A special investigation team has been formed to catch the accused," the SP said.
