Kolkata: Within one month of launching the public outreach programme ‘Ek Daake Abhishek’ (Abhishek a call away) in his Lok Sabha constituency, it has received massive response.
According to TMC sources, over one and a half lakh people have called the helpline number under this outreach programme to complain about mostly health services and the law and order situation.
“With an eye on Panchayat elections, TMC national secretary Abhishek Banerjee is visiting North Bengal on Monday and will hold a rally in Dhupguri. Then there is the party's Martyr’s Day programme on July 21. After Martyr’s Day, Banerjee will hold administrative meetings with all seven Assembly constituencies individually under Diamond Harbour constituency to solve the problem of common people,” said the TMC sources.
It can be noted that on June 18, taking inspiration from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's public outreach programme ‘Didi Ke Bolo’ (Inform Didi), TMC national secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee launched 'Ek Daake Abhishek' (Abhishek a call away) in his Lok Sabha constituency.
According to the Diamond Harbour MP, this initiative aims to develop a feedback mechanism where people can help their MP identify the existing issues and solve them on an urgent basis.
Banerjee in January had taken the initiative of door to door Covid tests and 50000 tests were conducted on one day which eventually was called the Diamond Harbour model. Following this, gradually everyone started saying that the second power center in the ruling Trinamool Congress has emerged.
