BJP’s patriotism on shaky ground: Congress

PANAJI: Congress on Saturday said BJP is stirring up communal unrest across the country for political gains. It also demanded an explanation of why BJP functionaries were found to have direct links with terrorists and anti-national activities.
AICC spokesperson Charanjit Singh Sapra and state Congress president Amit Patkar said that BJP appoints anti-national elements as its office-bearers and protects extremists by giving them party posts and patronage.
“Though BJP preaches nationalism, its patriotism is on shaky ground. It is creating unrest through communal mischief,” said Sapra.
To back the party’s claim that BJP is supporting extremists, Sapra released what he called evidence that links the murderers of Udaipur tailor Kanahiya Lal to senior BJP officials, including former Rajasthan minister Gulabchand Katariya.
Last week, the head of BJP’s IT cell in Srinagar, Talib Hussain, was arrested by security agencies after it was found that he has links with terror outfit Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT). Congress has demanded that PM Narendra Modi should break his silence on the links between the BJP functionaries and terror outfits.
