East Singhbhum admin gears up for incident-free fest

Jamshedpur: In the wake of series of incidents of disruptions in law-and-order across states, the East Singhbhum district administration has announced elaborate security measures on Sunday to ensure peaceful Bakrid (Eid-Al-Adha) being observed by the members belonging to the Muslim community.
The administration has distributed the city into 16 zones and deployed over 1,500 police personnel. Besides, two companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Quick Response Team (QRT) have been pressed into service.
A total of 150 magistrates will supervise the movement of the security forces, while Dhalbhum SDO Sandeep Kumar Meena will be in overall command of the sub-division.
DC Vijaya Jadhav and SSP M Tamil Vanan issued orders for the district control room to be 24-hour operational from Saturday on the eve of the festival. ADM (Law and Order), Nand Kishore Lal, said, “The administration has made elaborate measures from precautionary point of view,” while appealing to the enthusiasts to celebrate the festival in compliance with Covid guidelines as the cases of the contagious disease are on the spike again.
Police officials, during the peace committee meetings held at different police stations over the past four days, urged the faithfuls not to slaughter cow to observe the festive rituals. The police is maintaining vigil in the sensitive areas of Mango, Azadnagar, Golmuri, Kharangajhar (Telco), Jugsalai, and MGM police station area. Patrolling has been increased, with cops in uniform and plain clothes making regular rounds of markets in the sensitive areas. Police conducted flag march in the Jugsalai, Sundernagar, Pursudih police station areas today.
Meanwhile, residents frequented Sakchi, besides the markets of Mango, Golmuri, and Jugsalai, for last-minute purchase ahead of the festival day. Bistupur resident Md. Wakiluddin (48) said, “All masjid committees have appealed to the people to observe the festival peacefully. Besides, appeal has been made to all to wear face mask, maintain social distancing and hand sanitisation norms.”
