Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A day after oppressive humidity, rain lashed the city intermittently on Sunday morning and evening, providing relief to residents and turning the weather pleasant. The city recorded 10 mm rainfall, bringing the total of the season to 242.6 mm (9.55 inches).
The Regional Meteorological Department said that the weather conditions would remain the same for the next couple of days and there were chances of a good spell of rainfall from Monday evening.
Citizens woke up to light rainfall on Sunday morning, but the sky cleared at noon. However, the weather took a U-turn again in the evening as dark clouds enveloped the sky and rain continued to lash various parts of the city intermittently till late in the night. The weather turned pleasant in the evening after the rain that were coupled with a cool breeze.
“A low-pressure area over the coastal areas of south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh persists. The monsoon trough now passes through Ganganagar, Narnaul, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Raipur. Under the influence of these conditions, moisture incursion is taking place from both sides due to which rainfall is taking place in Indore division. There are chances of a good spell of rainfall in Indore from Monday evening,” meteorology department officials said.
The maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 30.2 degrees Celsius, which is 2 degrees Celsius below normal, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 21.8 degrees Celsius, which was 1 degree Celsius below normal.
The change in the weather also gave reason to the residents to celebrate the weekend as a large number of people rushed to the waterfalls and other nearby places on Sunday.
