CHANDIGARH: For deterring anti-social elements and making people feel secure,
Punjab’s officiating police chief Gaurav Yadav on Saturday had his force conduct a cordon and search operation (CASO) across all 28 police districts, supervised by the ADGPs and inspector generals.
The operation went on from 11am to 3pm with massive contingents led by the commissioners and SSPs, who identified the neighbourhoods and villages notorious for drug crimes and sheltering bad elements. Director general of police Yadav, who had joined additional DGP (law and order) Ishwar Singh in Mohali in one of those searches in various housing societies, said they will bust every gangster. He warned the smugglers to leave the state.
The DGP said the state was going back to the basic policing method of watching the vulnerable spots and upgrading the police stations for advance preparation to tackle any untoward situation. He encouraged the cops to make a direct contact with the public. and be polite with them.”
