Bihar registers 408 fresh Covid-19 cases

PATNA: The state logged over 400 fresh Covid-19 cases for the second consecutive day on Saturday. Altogether 408 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 1,957 on Saturday from 1,741 the previous day. The number of active cases in Bihar has increased by 12.4% in the last 24 hours.
As per the health department data, the new cases were against 1,33,866 samples tested in the past 24 hours, taking the positivity rate to 0.3%. In Patna, total 8,510 samples were tested, of which 220 came positive. After Patna, maximum new cases were reported from Bhagalpur where 40 people were tested positive on Saturday while 15 in Saharsa, 14 in Muzaffarpur and 11 in Banka.
Seven districts, including Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Aurangabad, Jamui, Kaimur, Katihar and Lakhisarai, did not log any new cases. However, Patna topped with more than 1,000 active cases, which is almost 50% of the total active cases in the state. Total number of active cases in Patna stood at 1,092 while 167 in Bhagalpur.
The number of patients recovering in the last 24 hours across the state is 192. With no new causality reported, the death toll remains at 12,262.
At AIIMS-Patna, three more Covid-19 patients were admitted on Saturday while one person got discharged. Total admitted patients have now reached 12. The admitted patients at NMCH-Patna stood at four.
