Daltonganj: Palamu District Bar Association has urged the state government to reconsider, review and amend the rate of valorem fees. The Court Fees (Jharkhand Amendment) Act 2021 was amended in the state in February this year to hike the court stamp fee for services like vakalatnama, caveat, review of judgment, affidavit, bail bond, call for records on the court, petition under Indian divorce act (barring section 44 and 55), probate of will, demand for certified copy etc. The district bar outfit said that the hike is putting fiscal pressure on the litigants.
“We have appealed to all the elected representatives too to press the government to review the rise in the cost of the court stamp fees,” the president of the district Bar association Ramdeo Prasad Yadav said.
General secretary of Bar Association, Subodh Kr Sinha, said, “The most sought after thing in the court is the certified copy of the judgment, decree, order, proceeding etc of the court. Earlier, it used to be Rs 2 per copy of the certified copy. Now with the enhancement, it is Rs 10 rupees per certified copy.”
