Ludhiana: The members of Feroze Gandhi Market Association have once again raised the issues of the market with the civic authorities — they have demanded fire lane and proper implementation of high court orders in the market. They claimed that sudden fire incidents have happened in the market but those happened either on Sunday or at night time and there was no rush at that time, but they cannot be lucky all the time.
They claimed that fire lane is encroached and in case fire accidents happened in the busy hours, there will be tough task for fire brigade to reach the target. One fire hydrant each in five parking lots should be provided so that in case of need, the fire hydrant could be used to tackle fire in multi-storied buildings.
The members though showed satisfaction with imposition of hourly parking in the market, they raised the issue of monthly passes, which is being misused by some people. They demanded proper system for monthly passes too.
They demanded that MC should include some additional conditions in the parking contract next time so that parking lots of the market can be manned round the clock. The contractor should also employ security guards and install at least eight solar street lights in each of five parking lots and ensure that they are functional. These lights will come handy when there are major power failures. These solar lights will help visitors of the market.
The association members also demanded that parking contractor should ensure that there is sufficient lighting in the parking lots. They said he should also be responsible to keep fire lanes/by lanes around booths, footpaths free of congestion to allow quick ingress to fire tenders/ambulance in case of need. They said he should also install minimum of four cameras in each parking lot and ensure that these cameras are in working condition round the clock.
