2 chain-snatchers nabbed after high-speed chase on highway

Vadodara: It was a scene straight out of the Bollywood thriller ‘Dhoom’ when a senior citizen was robbed by two bikers in the city on Thursday night. The accused duo riding a sports bike fled toward the national highway. But they were chased and nabbed by the crime branch sleuths within an hour of the incident.
According to the police, the accused had snatched the gold chain of Tara Pandya, who was sitting on a chair in her residential colony in Karelibaug area on Thursday evening. The duo came on a sports bike, snatched her chain and escaped.
“We received information that the duo was fleeing towards Ahmedabad on the national highway. Our team began chasing them and another team intercepted the chain-snatchers near the toll plaza in Vasad,” the crime branch officials said. The cops recovered the gold chain worth Rs 45,000 from the accused along with two mobile phones.
The police said that the accused identified as Layaksinh Yadav, a resident of Uttar Pradesh and Anand Dantani, a resident of Ahmedabad are historysheeters. Dantani has 25 offences registered against him which include chain-snatching in different areas of Ahmedabad. He was externed from Ahmedabad in the past.
