Within a couple of days since he resigned as the Union Minister, RCP Singh has been reduced to the status of non-entity in JDU.
The former Union Steel Minister, who reached Patna after his second term in Rajya Sabha, stayed in a hotel before leaving for his village in Nalanda district.
The government bungalow on Strand Road where he stayed for over ten years was vacated to accommodate the chief secretary last week.
Singh had fallen out of favour with Bihar Chief inister Nitish Kumar and was denied a Rajya Sabha ticket.
Singh, who was venerated as Saheb by ministers and legislators, was welcomed by junior party workers as none of the office-bearers went to meet him. Even those who were given party tickets in the assembly elections on his recommendation ignored the former national president of JDU.
The current National President of the party, Lallan Singh, who had far from smooth relations with RCP, said that now he was a common worker of the party.
Upendra Kushwaha, chairman of the Parliamentary Board of JDU, belittled the claim of RCP that he had developed the party and made it a strong cadre-based party like the BJP.
Taking a jibe at Singh, Kushwaha said, "Everyone should know, Nitish is NDA, NDA is Nitish."
Further, building construction department minister Ashok Chaudhury on Saturday said that whatever RCP achieved, it is because of Nitish Kumar. "Once you fall from the grace of Nitish, you are reduced to zero," he added.
Ashok said that RCP could only become the union minister because of the blessings of Nitish Kumar. "Can RCP even attract 5000 people in his meetings without inviting Nitish?" he said.
RCP Singh, the 1984 batch IAS officer was associated with Nitish since 1997, first in the NDA ministry and later in the chief minister's office in Bihar.
Singh, on July 6, on his birthday, resigned from the ministry one year after joining the Union Cabinet from his party's quota.
