Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Even when the cases of Covid-19 are increasing swiftly, district health officials have heaved a sigh of relief as the number of patients recovering from the pandemic disease is also increasing. According to health officials, as many as 400 patients were found positive in the first eight days of this month and the daily average rate of positivity remained over 10 per cent. However, the number of patients who recovered in the same period was also 269.
According to respiratory medicine expert of Shri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences Dr Ravi Dosi, about 95 per cent of the patients are kept in home isolation and do not require any intensive treatment and care. Most of the patients are recovering in two days.
“These patients were vaccinated and only had such symptoms as fever, body ache and sore throat for only a couple of days. Most of them were vaccinated against the disease and were found positive ‘accidentally’ as they approached the doctor for treatment for other diseases,” he said.
The government changed the treatment guidelines for patients suffering from mild symptoms or those who were asymptomatic and rationalised the use of antibiotics, as well.
“Indore had seen a peak of the third wave of Covid-19 in January and the number of cases has been decreasing since then. However, the city has seen a reverse trend from mid-June and the number of cases is increasing again. The cases will continue to be found positive, but people must remain vigilant against the disease,” health officials said, adding, “People mustn’t stop following Covid protocols as the disease is new and it’s uncertain whether or not new variants of the disease will be found.”
