NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed higher in the Friday's session.

Aro Granite Industries(up 2.46%), Coal India(up 2.04%), Oriental Trimex(up 1.54%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(up 0.64%) and Ashapura Minechem(up 0.09%) stood among the top gainers.

Dvpt Corporation(down 3.02%), Pokarna(down 0.87%), KIOCL(down 0.84%), MOIL(down 0.71%), NMDC Ltd(down 0.68%) and Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 0.53%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 87.7 points up at 16220.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 303.38 points at 54481.84.

Larsen & Toubro(up 4.74%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 2.94%), Tata Motors(up 2.48%), NTPC(up 2.31%), Coal India(up 2.04%), SBI Life(up 1.98%), ICICI Bank(up 1.85%), & Special Economic Zone(up 1.72%), Axis Bank(up 1.67%) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.61%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.67%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 1.62%), Tata Steel(down 1.57%), Maruti Suzuki(down 1.52%), JSW Steel(down 1.46%), IndusInd Bank(down 1.44%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 1.24%), Hindalco Industries(down 1.13%), Tata Consultancy(down 0.68%) and HCL Technologies(down 0.64%) closed in the red.
