Unchehara/Satna (Madhya Pradesh): As the ban on single-use plastic (SUP) came into effect from July 1, the civic body staff of Unchehara seized plastic items from different shops and issued challans in its jurisdiction. Few shopkeepers were also fined Rs 500.
On July 8, action was taken by the team of Municipal Council Unchehara to ban single use plastic in shops in the city. In which single plastic items were seized from the shops and Chief Municipal Officer Shailendra Pratap Singh urged the shopkeepers regarding the usage of jute, cloth, and permitted bags in place of single-use plastic.
Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) Shailendra Pratap Singh, Deputy Engineer RB Tripathi, Sanitation incharge Anil Mishra and all the employees of the municipal council were present. "The identified single-use plastic items include earbuds with plastic sticks, plastic sticks for balloons, plastic flags, candy sticks, ice cream sticks, polystyrene (thermocol) for decoration, plates, cups, glasses, forks, spoons, knives, straws, trays, wrapping or packaging films around sweet boxes, invitation cards, cigarette packets, plastic or PVC banners of less than 100 microns, and stirrers", said CMO Singh.
