THANE: The heavy rain in the city since Wednesday midnight left CM Eknath Shinde’s private residence water-logged on Thursday.
A few other rain-related mishaps, including tree falls, were reported since morning. Three families of a Kalwa building had to be evacuated after a portion of a neighbouring vacant structure collapsed in the afternoon. No one was injured in any incident.

The city recorded 91mm rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8.30am on Thursday while 13.9mm rainfall was recorded in the next 12 hours ending at 8.30pm, said officials.
“The city witnessed heavy rainfall after midnight, which led to several low- lying areas, including the chief minister’s bungalow compound in Louis Wadi area of the city, being inundated. The water didn’t enter indoors. We received a call around 6am from the office of the minister, following which a team rushed to the spot and drained out the accumulated water,” a civic rescue official said.
