Visitors to the world famous Colva beach came across tonnes of waste being stacked in plastic bags on Thursday, resembling a waste mound.

If sources are to be believed, the waste has been stacked on the beach towards the end of the Children’s park. The waste has been apparently stacked at the site, awaiting transportation by the beach contractor.

Waste littered on the beach belt is being collected by personnel drafted by the beach cleaning agency.

Questions have been raised by local residents why the waste collected from the beach is not lifted away in vehicles on a daily basis. They pointed out that the accumulated bags containing waste has become an eyesore, demanding that the contractor immediately clear the waste.

Incidentally, local Colva residents have been pleading with the Tourism Department to ensure that the beach square is also cleaned up by the beach cleaning agency, but in vain.
