Burdwan: Four died and several others were critical after consuming spurious liquor in East Burdwan on Thursday night.
The administration and excise department had asked to keep all the liquor shops closed until further orders.
According to sources, Shiekh Halim and Sheikh Subrati had died earlier after consuming the liquor. Later, two more people Chinmoy Dey and Gautam Dey also died after consuming spurious liquor.
On Friday, ADG Western Zone Sanjoy Singh and West Burdwan Police Super Kamanasish Sen searched the entire place for spurious liquor shops.
Police are also searching for the shop from which people bought the liquor as those who died and those who are serious didn’t consume the liquor together.
