Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh): Despite deficit rainfall in Madhya Pradesh specially in Meteorological department’s east division which include Vindhya, Mahakoshal, Bundelkhand region, the agriculture experts said that Kharif crop sowing underway in state is is satisfactory .

Rain is sufficient from a sowing point of view, the key factor is the short gap between spells of rain as it helps in seeds germination, said the experts.

With the advancement of monsoon, the situation in Malwa region has improved post June 23. As per the meteorological department report, Madhya Pradesh currently has a deficit of 3% rainfall. East division has received 11% deficient rain below the normal average during this period , while west division has recorded 8% surplus rainfall.

Deputy director agriculture BM Sahare said, “ The rainfall that Madhya Pradesh has received so far is sufficient for Kharif crops sowing in all pockets across the state. Sowing is already underway. Paddy, soyabean, maize, oilseeds, pulses etc are being sown. The agriculture department is quite satisfied with the way sowing is going on in all regions like Malawa, Bundelkhand, Mahakoshal, Vindya.”

Former director agriculture Dr GS Kausal said, “It is a very favorable condition for the Kharif crops as rains are occurring in noon and by the evening weather is clear so farmers get opportunity for the sowing. There is no major gap in frequencies of rain so deficit in rainfall hardly matters as far as farming is concerned.”

Kedar Sirohi, farmer, said, “Sowing of Kharif crops is good as rainfall is very much satisfactory. There is no problem for the farmers. They are satisfied with the rainfall trend and ongoing sowing trend.”
