A Class 12 girl was stabbed by a 22-year-old man following a quarrel between them in west Delhi's Tilak Vihar area of Tilak Nagar on Thursday, Delhi Police said.
The girl suffered deep stab wounds on her stomach and chest and was taken to a nearby government hospital where she is undergoing treatment.
According to the police, the duo live nearby and have been friends for the last two to three years.
"This morning they met and were talking when the boy fished out a knife and before she could react, he stabbed her. The girl suffered stab wounds and collapsed on the ground writhing in pain. The accused fled from the crime scene," the police official added.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Ghanshyam Bansal said the accused has been identified and would be nabbed soon.
The reason behind the argument and the subsequent stabbing is not known yet as the girl is undergoing treatment at a hospital, he said.
Meanwhile, the girl's mother said the man used to tease her and that they had filed a report a month ago. However, she said the police did not take any action.
"My daughter was going to school when the boy attacked her. He used to tease her, we filed a report a month ago. In between, he stopped but then again he started teasing her. Delhi police didn't take any substantial action. He threatened not to spare her," said the girl's mother.
