NEW DELHI: Union Cabinet on Wednesday gave another six-month extension to the Rohini Commission for sub-categorisation of OBCs, contrary to the indications that the panel was set to submit its report after around five years.
The tenure of the panel, which was to end on July 31, has been extended till January 2023. This is the 13th extension to the panel which was set up in October 2017.
The Rohini Commission is examining the sub-division of the Central list of OBCs, whereby castes will be clubbed together in groups according to their socio-economic advancement, and 27% Mandal quotas will be apportioned among them in proportion to their population.
