Bhopal: More than 1400 government schools to start preprimary classes this session

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a first, government schools in Madhya Pradesh will start Early Childhood Education for students who have attained age of four years, from this academic session. Till now government schools start with class 1. This is being done in view of the New Education Policy, said official of the school education department.

In the first phase, as many as 1,415 schools in five districts have been identified to start pre-primary classes. Children between the age of four and five years will be given admission in KG 1 and that of age five to six years will be eligible for KG 2, said director of Rajya Shiksha Kendra, Dhanraju S.

Five districts where these classes will begin from this academic session include Bhopal, Chhindwara, Sehore, Sagar and Shahdol, he added.

“The schools have been provided with required material and infrastructure besides extra funds,” said the director.

A four-hour school schedule has been decided for the students of KG 1 and KG 2. An exercise book prepared by the experts has been sent to all schools. The students will come to school at 10.30 am and go back at 2.30 pm.

Students will be checked daily for hygiene and cleanliness after the morning assembly. They will be taught about importance of health and hygiene. They will be taught basic lessons in an interesting manner. One period will be of mere conversation in which things like food, vegetables, fruits, water, forests etc and things around will be discussed.

Students will be taught letters from the alphabets and numbers up to 100. Moreover, storytelling, local songs and poems will also be part of the class teaching.
