Mumbai: WR RPF officials felicitate families of freedom fighters at Palghar, Valsad and Nandurbar

As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, RPF officials of WR’s Mumbai Division paid their respects to six freedom fighters and felicitated their families in a ceremony at Palghar, Valsad and Nandurbar

To commemorate 75 years of Independence of our nation, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is being observed across the country. To celebrate this auspicious occasion, WR’s RPF has organised various activities such as motorcycle rallies, run for unity by staff and their families, tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaign, as well as felicitating and honouring the freedom fighters, etc. As part of this program, WR’s RPF of Mumbai Division has honoured six freedom fighters and felicitated their family members in different functions organized at Palghar, Valsad and Nandurbar.

According to Sumit Thakur - Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Rly, the RPF Mumbai Division paid tribute to six freedom fighters by felicitating their family members. The function was held at Palghar on 2nd July 2022, at Valsad on 4th July 2022 & at Nandurbar on 6th July 2022 by RPF officials.

The functions were held at educational institutions, and the families of these freedom fighters were felicitated by senior RPF officials in the presence of the Management, Principal, teachers, students as well as NCC cadets & NSS guides.

Vineet Kharb, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of RPF Mumbai Central Division felicitated Damayanti Dattatray Pawar, wife of Late freedom fighter Dattatray Haribhau Pawar, Ankur Deepak Save, grandson of Late freedom fighter Aatmaram Hari Save and Naresh Kadubhai Shah, son of late freedom fighter Kadubhai Gokuldas Shah were present in a function organised at Palghar.

Muhammed Haneef, Divisional Security Commissioner of RPF Mumbai Central Division felicitated Satyan Pandya, grandson of late freedom fighter Shankerbhai Pandya and his great-granddaughters at a School in Valsad. Haneef also felicitated Smt Prabhavati Janardhan Vispute, wife of late Freedom Fighter Janardhan Vispute along with his grandson and Smt Hansabai Ramdas Mali, wife of late freedom fighter Ramdas Mali at a Govt College in Nandurbar.

Thakur further stated that the felicitation programmes were accompanied by the bike rally of 20 RPF Staff at the venues. The bike rally was flagged off by DRM Mumbai G.V.L Satyakumar on 1st July 2022 from Mumbai. The rally covered more than 25 locations in the division to date, along with a mobile video wall displaying the contributions of RPF and awareness videos for passenger safety in railways. The functions have been organised as part of celebrations organised by the Railway Protection Force across the country to commemorate 75 years of independence.
