Man held for killing wife over dowry in Noida

NOIDA: A man has been arrested by Noida police for allegedly killing his wife over dowry. The accused, Vikash Prasad Jaiswal, is a resident of Delhi.
According to Vivek Trivedi, SHO Phase 3 police station, the deceased, Bharti and Vikash married in 2019. Bharti committed suicide after hanging from a ceiling fan in November 2021. The post-mortem report also revealed the cause of death.
“After getting a written complaint from the deceased's parents, an FIR was registered against Vikash and his parents under sections 304B (dowry death), 489A (subjecting a woman to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and relevant sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961,” said Trivedi.
The family of the deceased alleged that Vikash and his family used to harass Bharti for dowry, and had also demanded a car after marriage.
The police had arrested Vikash’s father while Vikash was absconding for six months. He hid somewhere in Delhi and Gurgaon. He was arrested on Tuesday from his workplace in Okhla Phase 1, Delhi. He used to work as a supervisor in a private company. The accused is sent to judicial custody after being produced in court.
