Shajapur (Madhya Pradesh): Voting to elect municipal bodies in Shajapur and Maksi has ended. Till the stipulated time, Shajapur recorded 73.53 per cent voting, while Maksi council recorded 86.67% polling. The voting percentage could increase further as polling at many places continued even after 5 pm as the presiding officers distributed tokens to the voters who reported at the polling station before 5 pm, but were unable to vote within the stipulated time.
There are total 53617 voters in Shajapur Municipality area, including 27223 male, 26385 female and nine other voters. Similarly, there are total 14145 voters in Maksi municipal council area, which includes 7174 male, 6970 female and one other voter.
In Shajapur municipal area, elections were held for the post of corporators of 29 wards, for which 67 polling stations were set up. Similarly, 19 polling stations were set up for the election of 15 ward councillors in Maksi municipal council. There were 15 sensitive polling stations in Shajapur municipal area and 06 sensitive polling stations in Maksi municipal area.
