Mysuru: The Guest Lecturers’ Association of the University of Mysore (UoM) requested vice-chancellor G Hemantha Kumar on Tuesday to revise their honorarium and to fulfil their demands. The association members submitted a memorandum to VC on Tuesday.
Currently, 850 guest lecturers are serving at the university and they are paid Rs 28,000 as monthly honorarium.
“All the universities have revised the honorarium. We are requesting to increase the honorarium to Rs 50,000 per month on par with assistant professors (temporary). We also requested the VC to change the designation from guest lecturers to assistant professors (temporary),” informed guest lecturers.
Other demands include paying an honorarium for 12 full months, considering the service period at the time recruitment of regular assistant professors, besides ESI, PF facilities and maternity leave among others. They also demanded honorarium for three months during the first lockdown period during the pandemic.
