HYDERABAD: Nizamabad police are narrowing in on an interstate gang who are suspected to be involved in the Telangana Grameena Bank gold heist case.
The five special teams probing the ₹4.4 crore worth gold theft case now have some clear evidence to indicate that the accused were members of an interstate gang. Police suspect that the same gang might be involved in similar offences across the state.
Meanwhile, police summoned a private security firm that supplied an anti-burglar alarm technology to the bank to find out why the alarm did not trigger as soon as the offenders broke into the bank.
“By looking at the modus operandi, we are sure that they are members of an interstate gang. We have shortlisted gangs from Tamilnadu, Haryana, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. We will get more leads in a day or two,” said an investigator. Police found several security loopholes at the bank.
