Patna: Former district board member killed

PATNA: A 50-year-old former zila parshad (district board member) of Naubatpur was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his flat in Saket Apartment at Gola Road in Patna on Tuesday. The deceased, Rakesh Kumar Sharma alias Guddu Sharma Keshav, was a resident of Tiskhora in Naubatpur area and lived with his family at Gola Road.
His wife Alka Kumari spotted the body when their 17-yar-old son called for help at around 3am. Rakesh's room was locked from outside. The main gate of their flat was open. She found Rakesh motionless on the bed with head injury.
Patna SSP Manavjit Singh Dhillon suspected that someone close to the family was behind the murder. "The statements of his family members will be recorded once they are in a position to talk," Dhillon told TOI. He said the family informed the Rupaspur police station at 8am about the murder. "The man died due to internal bleeding. The police recovered a licensed gun from his room," he said.
