MANGALURU: The Bantwal town police have arrested two persons on the charges of stabbing to death a 37-year-old man.
Mohammad Naufal Maripalla and Mahammed Nausir Maripalla have been arrested for stabbing to death Asif.
Dakshina Kannada SP Rishikesh Sonawane said that a preliminary investigation revealed that the murder took place over a trivial issue. It is learnt that Naufal and Nasir had objected to Asif honking unnecessarily, while riding his motorbike near a hotel in Ponnodi, which led to an exchange of words between Asif and the accused.
On Monday night, the accused had intercepted the victim at Shanthiangadi, and threatened him.
Following this, the victim called his friends, and informed them of the threat received by him , and asked them to visit him.
The victim, along with his friends, once again met the accused near a hotel in Ponnodi. There was an exchange of words, and the accused allegedly assaulted the victim and his friends. In a fit of rage, the accused stabbed Asif.
An injured Asif was rushed to a private hospital, and later shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment, where he breathed his last.
A case has been booked under various IPC sections.
