Two Tamils from Manipur’s Moreh shot in Myanmar

IMPHAL: Two Tamil youths of the border town of Moreh in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district were reportedly gunned down at Tamu in Myanmar on Tuesday.
In protest against the killing, irate Moreh locals shut down the border town and convened a public meeting for taking necessary steps to bring justice for the duo identified as P Mohan (28) from Gamnom Veng, Moreh Ward No 2 and M Iyarnar from Phaicham Veng, Moreh, War No 4.
The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.
Six civil bodies belonging to different communities putting up at Moreh have also submitted a report to the officer-in-charge of Moreh police station on the matter, requesting him to do the needful and take necessary action.
According to reports, the duo was missing since 8.30 am on Tuesday. The victims were shot dead around 10.30 am by some unidentified two-wheeler borne persons at Tamu town, a source said, while speculating that the attackers might be members of Pyu Shaw Htee, a militia set up by the Myanmar military.
