Niti Aayog ranking: Gaya No. 1 on list of 112 aspirational districts

GAYA: Gaya emerged No. 1 among 112 aspirational districts across the country in the Delta ranking announced by Niti Aayog on the basis of points awarded on five indicators in May. The district had a composite score of 48.7 points, better than its 45.5 in April.
The five indicators are health and nutrition, agriculture resources, financial inclusion and skill development and basic infrastructure.
Gaya performed the best in health and nutrition with 52.2 points, compared to 43.2 points in April. In the field of education, the district secured third position with 52.7 points. Financial inclusion and skill development fetched Gaya 29.6 points and it remained on the 11th position.
In the field of basic infrastructure, the district bagged 64.4 points to remain 67th among the aspirational districts. Only in agriculture and water resources, Gaya performance dropped.
In April, the district had secured 40.3 points, while it dropped to 39.4 in May to finish 102nd.
Gaya DM Thiyagarajan SM said, "The WONDER app launched in the district with an aim to monitor and minimize the complications in maternal health has proved to be very effective in the health sector. Under the programme, training has been imparted to all the doctors, ANMs and other health staff to redress health issues related to pregnant women without delay."
He added: "A database of pregnant women has been prepared. According to it, around 92% of the pregnant women have got registered for ANC (antinetal care). The pregnant women are being given supplement food for 21 days on regular basis, while 48% women were tested for anaemia and provided treatment accordingly. Apart from this, health services are also being provided to the children below five years."
