Jaipur/Jodhpur: Former CM Vasundhara Raje on Tuesday inspected the spot where tailor Kanhaiya Lal was murdered. Raje, who is on a two-day visit to Udaipur, interacted with the shopkeepers at Hathipole earlier in the day and assured them of full cooperation in bringing the situation back to normalcy.
Thanking PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah for quick action in the Udaipur incident, she said, “The manner in which PM Modi and Amit Shah reacted by handing over the investigation to NIA shows that culprits will not be spared. The quick action will restore the confidence of the people in the city and help them in emerging from the tragic situation.” She spent almost an hour in the market meeting the shopkeepers before she left for Jodhpur to attend the wedding function of a party functionary’s son.
Talking to the media at Jodhpur circuit house, Raje called for capital punishment for the killers of Kanhaiya Lal. She said that the killers made videos of the grisly incident and made that viral, hence capital punishment for them was her first wish.
Raje said that new trends in crime were being noticed in Rajasthan and this required policing to adapt accordingly with new training. Hitting CM Ashok Gehlot for holding Modi and Shah responsible for everything wrong in Rajasthan, Raje said that the government has failed to do its part.
BJP state president Satish Poonia too reached Udaipur in the afternoon to pay condolences to Kanhaiya’s family. He assured the family that BJP stands firm with them and slammed the state government.
