KALYAN: In another setback to Uddhav Thackeray, around 90 per cent of
Shiv Sena functionaries from Dombivli in Maharashtra's Thane district, including city president Rajesh More and 18 former corporators participated in Abhinandan rally organized by supporters of Eknath Shinde for becoming chief minister of the state, on Wednesday.
Dombivli city falls in Kalyan-Lok Sabha constituency, from where Dr Shrikant Shinde, son of Eknath Shinde is an MP.
Though Dr Shinde was not able to attend a rally due to his pre-scheduled programs in Mumbai, chief minister's supporters attended the rally in large numbers.
The rally started from Ganpati Mandir and ended at Indira Gandhi chowk.
Shiv Sena Dombivli president Rajesh More and former mayor Vinita Rane's husband Vishwanath Rane's participation in the rally along with other senior party functionaries took everyone by surprise.
Earlier, Jadhav was said to be was unhappy with Shinde over his decision to rebel.
Meanwhile, when Shinde supporters reached near Dombivli Shiv Sena's office, a nearly tense situation arose for a brief period when some Shiv Sainiks seating in office came on road and raised slogans in favour of Uddhav Thackeray.
However, no untoward incident happened due to presence of police personnel.
