NIT suspends physical classes in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The management of NIT Jamshedpur on Tuesday suspended physical classes temporarily after 13 of its students from the first year batch of B.Tech course tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday. Also, 300 students who were living in hostel number one have been shifted to another building.
College’s media coordinator Bhagat told TOI, “The infected students have been isolated and the remaining 287 students have been allotted single rooms in a separate hostel.” Most of the students are on summer vacation. Those who are in the hostels for practical classes will attend online classes now, he said.
“The hostel building will be sanitised and the students will not be allowed to step out of the campus for the time being. That apart, the Covid-19 safety protocol has been imposed,” Bhagat added.
Civil surgeon Dr Vijay Kumar sai, “Contact tracing and screening of the staff and the students are being done.”
