Kolkata: TMC on Wednesday slammed BJP-led central government over the hike in LPG price.
After a cabinet meeting, TMC minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said that the BJP-led central government will neither allow people to ‘live’ nor ‘eat’.
“The price of essential commodities has been increasing regularly. The Modi government will neither allow common people to live nor eat as the prices from LPG to daily used products are increasing,” said Bhattacharya.
It can be noted that the price of domestic LPG gas was hiked by Rs 50 on Wednesday, taking it to Rs 1,079.
Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Mayor Firhad Hakim alleged that the BJP government ‘won’t’ allow the middle class and lower middle class people to live.
Earlier, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on several occasions had accused the Central government of rising prices of fuels, cooking oil and even LPG and also criticized the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Scheme which gives LPG gases to the poor people.
Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said that he would comment only after Mamata Banerjee reduces cess on fuel prices.
“In two occasions, the Central government has reduced both prices of petrol and diesel and have also announced a 200 rupees subsidy on LPG. First, let Mamata Banerjee reduce the state government tax. After that I will comment,” mentioned Adhikari.
