Satna (Madhya Pradesh): Sealed ballot papers have been found torn outside a polling booth in village Khajuri Sukhnandan of Amarpatan Janpad Panchayat. The incident surfaced after a video of these torn ballot papers went viral on social media.
The voting for the second phase of Amarpatan Janpad Panchayat was held on July 1. On the day of counting of votes, Sugriv Singh who has contested for the post of Janpad member from ward no 8, complained to the presiding officer about spotting yellow colour sealed ballot papers outside the polling booth.
Nonetheless, when his complaint was unattended, he showed the video of the entire incident to officials of the district administration. Despite this, no action was taken and today the ballot papers were found unclaimed.
Later when the video of the incident went viral on social media, police personnel reached the spot and seized all the torn ballot papers and started further investigation in the case.
K.K Pandey, Sub Divisional Magistrate of Amarpatan said this entire matter is being investigated and action will be taken as per rules after the result of investigation report comes. Serial numbers are also printed on these ballot papers and the picture would be clear after the tabulation process on July 14.
