HYDERABAD: Several schools in Telangana remained closed on Tuesday in view of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidya Parishad's (ABVP) call for statewide bandh.
The organization stated that the bandh had been called in view of the government's failure in regulating fees in private schools and inability in providing basic supplies in government schools.
"Over three weeks have passed since the schools have reopened, but till now textbooks, uniform and even basic things like chalk is not available in government schools. On other hand, private schools fees are exorbitantly high. We want to protest against this with a bandh," said Srikanth, city secretary.
According to ABVP, the bandh has been enforced in majority of the schools across the 14 'vibhags' of the organisation in the GHMC limits.
Several schools, specially in government sector, however continued to operate in morning.
ABVP has stated that they will enforce the bandh across schools of all boards.
