  • A new portrait of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has been released to mark her 75th birthday.
  • The portrait is the cover image of a special commemorative edition of Country Life magazine.
  • It was taken by Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, at Camilla's home in Wiltshire, Raymill.

A new portrait of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has been released to mark her 75th birthday.

The photograph is the cover image of a special commemorative edition of Country Life magazine, which will be published on 13 July.

The magazine also invited Camilla, who celebrates her milestone birthday on 17 July, to guest edit the special edition to commemorate their 125th anniversary.

The photo shows Camilla sitting on a bench with a trug filled with pelargoniums, ready to be planted. Smiling and looking relaxed, the Duchess wears a blue and white floral dress and cardigan.

Along with the release of the portrait, Country Life revealed that the cover photo was taken by none other than the Duchess of Cambridge at Ray Mill House, Camilla's retreat in Lacock in Wiltshire.

"The Duchess of Cambridge took our cover images at the request of our Guest Editor, the Duchess of Cornwall, and we could not be happier with the results – in fact, the set of images she took was so good that we struggled to choose only three, from which The Duchess of Cornwall made her final selection," said Country Life's Managing and Features Editor, Paula Lester.

Lester shared more about the day the photoshoot took place, saying, "The Duchess of Cambridge took her commission very seriously and was incredibly professional about the task at hand.

"She phoned me to discuss our requirements for the cover and subsequently composed a range of beautifully shot images."

Kate, a keen amateur photographer and patron of the Royal Photographic Society, regularly takes the official portraits of her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, for important milestones such as birthdays and first days of school.
