Jamshedpur: Railway movement on the Howrah-Tatanagar track remained affected for the second consecutive day on Monday owing to the derailment of a parcel van near Sankrail station in
West Bengal a day earlier.
The Up and Down trains of Steel Express, connecting Tatanagar and Howrah, were delayed by over four hours. While the Howrah-bound Steel Express started its journey from Tatanagar at 10.45 am, the Tatanagar-bound train from Howrah reached around 1.30 am on Monday, four hours behind its schedule 9.30 pm on Sunday.
Similarly, Titlagarh-bound Ispat Express (12871) reached Tatanagar from Howrah on Monday at 3.30 pm, five hours behind schedule. The Howrah-Barbil Jan Shatabdi Express (12021) arrived at Tatanagar on Monday, at 12.05 pm, two hours behind schedule on Monday and the movement of the Ahmedabad-Howrah Express (12834) also got affected by 40 minutes.
Besides, the movement of the six long-distance passenger trains, including Shalimar-LTT Janeswari Express (12102), Howrah-Mumbai CST Mail (12810), Howrah-Hatia Kriya Yog Express (18615) were affected for over four hours on Sunday, due to the derailment of the Vasco-da-Gama-bound freight train.
Senior divisional commercial manager, Chakradharpur, Manish Kumar Pathak, said, “Train movement was affected on Sunday due to derailment of a freight train. Besides, the long-distance trains that went for maintenance affected the rescheduling hours at the originating station in Howrah. Hence, train movement remained affected during the first half today.”
