To align with the goal of NEP-2020, AICTE has introduced the Unified Credit Framework National Higher Equation Qualification Framework (NHEQF)/National Skill Qualification Framework (NSeF) for the implementation in all the AICTE approved Technical universities/Institutions. The All India Council for Technical Education is a national-level body for technical education, under the Department of Higher Education.
The introduction of the NHEQF is set in motion to ensure that the student is employable on exiting their education. It also ensures that the Higher Educational Institutions have clarity of a student’s educational progression at every time a student wishes to pick up their studies from where they left.
After the completion of 12th standard, a student will receive 4 credits. On completion of a four year undergraduatiopn program, a student will receive 6 credits and after a PhD, 8 credits will be awarded to the students.
The further breakup Unified Credit Levels for Engineering and Technology Education can be found in the circular released by the AICTE .
