BHOPAL (Madhya Pradesh): The work of distribution of election-related material started on Tuesday morning. Three waterproof domes have been built at the Lal Parade Ground in the state capital for this purpose. Over 500 buses will leave with about 10,000 employees put on poll duty, said an official.
More than 300 workers are engaged in distributing the material to poll parties who are supposed to reach the polling booth today itself and see the arrangements. Since morning, there has been a traffic jam in front of the Lal Parade Ground.
About 18 counters have been made here for the distribution of election material to polling teams which started reaching out to collect the material from 6 am. Distribution of materials has been started to them from 7 o'clock. Poll officials are leaving only after checking EVMs and other important materials.
For 2160 polling booths, 2160 control units, 4320 BUs i.e. ballot units are being provided. A separate BU will be set up for Mayor and Councilor. Collector Avinash Lavania and Municipal Commissioner KVS Chaudhary Kolsani are supervising overall arrangements.
Around 500 buses have been acquired for the elections. 4 to 5 polling teams are being dispatched in a bus. Most of the buses are from schools and colleges.
Avoid going towards Lal Parade Ground till noon:
The distribution of material to the polling parties will be done by noon. As all polling parties have to collect the election material from here, large numbers of busses and poll officials have gathered here creating a jam-like situation. It would be better if people avoid this route. They can take alternative routes.
