Guj, Karnataka, Meghalaya ‘Best Performers’ In National Startup Rankings

The ranking of states on support to startup ecosystem was announced by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in a ceremony in New Delhi

The third edition of National Startup Rankings saw Gujarat, Karnataka, and Meghalaya declared as the best performers for 2021. The ranking of states on support to startup ecosystem was announced by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in a ceremony in New Delhi.

According to the National Startup Rankings-2021, Gujarat and Karnataka are the ‘Best Performers’ under Category-A, and Meghalaya took the top spot in Category-B. The ranking took into account participation of 24 states and seven union territories. 

In this list, states were categorised under, Best Performers, Top Performers, Leaders, Aspiring Leaders and Emerging Startup Ecosystem.

The rankings announced Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Jammu & Kashmir as ‘Top Performers’. While Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa and Andaman & Nicobar Islands were declared as ‘Leaders’.

Rounding up the emerging states working on their startup ecosystem, the rankings identified Bihar, Mizoram, Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh as leaders.

Taking to Twitter, Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu said: “This is truly a very good news. Arunachal Pradesh's Finance, Planning & Investment Dept, has been recognised as a leader in developing a strong startup ecosystem in state by @DoC_GoI.”
