Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh): District and Sessions Court, Bhopal, has sentenced 3 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) to five engineers of MP Housing Board and two contractors in a corruption case. The case pertains to anomalies in construction of Abhiruchi Parisar, Subhash Nagar railway crossing.
Special judge (anti corruption) Rajiv K Paul passed the judgment. Those who have been awarded sentence include YR Godse (Assistant Engineer), MK Qayuumi (deputy engineer), MC Trivedi (Deputy Engineer), MQ Khan(Deputy Engineer), RC Karada (Deputy Engineer), Prakash Mirchandani (contractor) and Harminder Singh Suri (Contractor). Another contractor, Nirmal Kumar Suri died during the course of the trial.
Assistant Public Prosecution officer Hemlata Kushwaha said, “ The case is related to Abhiruchi Parisar, Subhash Railway crossing. Construction was sub-standard and contractors were paid 200% additional payment. The EOW then had registered a case against engineers of MP Housing Board and the contractors.” State Economic Offences Wing (EOW) police had registered a case against the accused under Sections 120B, 420, 467, 468, 471 of IPC and Section 13(2) of Corruption Act, according to district public prosecution officials.
