Jamshedpur: Venting ire against the “deteriorating law and order” and demanding the immediate arrest of those involved in the murder of businessman Kanhaiya Singh,
BJP workers along with members of other organisations took out a protest march in Adityapur in Seraikela-Kharswan district on Monday.
Kanhaiya, who is a relative of former BJP MLA from Ichagarh, Arvind Singh alias Malkhan Singh, was shot dead at his home, under Adityapur police station on June 30.
Arvind, who himself took part in the protest march, said on Monday that anyone who can identify and give details of those involved in the killing will be awarded Rs 1 lakh.
Sources said Arvind, who is also known as the Ichagarh strongman, has announced the reward amount as the murder is being considered a direct challenge to him by his rivals.
So, he wants to handle the case in his own way though police are investigating the matter, the sources added.
Those close to Arvind feel that Kanhaiya had no rivalry with anyone but the motive behind the killing was to challenge the authority of the former MLA.
BJP leader Abhay Singh also took part in the protest march.
Abhay said people of the area are fed up with the rising crime graph in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district, where murder has become an everyday incident.
People are terrified to come out after sunset, he added.
According to police records in the last three months, 10 murders have taken place in the area.
Meanwhile, the murder has given a strange political twist in the area with Congress leader and former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda also taking out a seperate protest march on Sunday, demanding immediate arrest of the killers.
State health minister Banna Gupta and senior Congress leader Rajesh Thakur, too visited Arvind’s house on Sunday to express their solidarity.
